Jianshui Purple Clay Hand-Painted Teapot

Jianshui Purple Clay Hand-Painted Teapot
Handcrafted by Pupu Studio in Jianshui, Yunnan, this teapot features a traditional Chinese landscape painting of a lone figure and boat moving through the mountains. Delicate rock-like patterns along the handle add texture and character to the piece.
Made from 100% Jianshui purple clay, or zitao, the teapot is formed from naturally occurring black clay with a soft matte finish. Although it is known as “purple clay,” Jianshui zitao naturally occurs in five colors: purple, red, white, yellow, and green.
Because the teapot is unglazed, the clay may gradually absorb the aroma and character of the tea brewed in it over time. For this reason, we recommend dedicating it to one general type of tea, such as ripe pu-erh, raw pu-erh, oolong, or black tea.
Each teapot is fitted with a built-in ball filter for a smooth, controlled pour.

It’s food safe, of course. I strongly recommend that you wash it only with water, and use it gently. Please do not use soap to wash or rinse your pot because it might also absorb the scent from the soap. You can also use bamboo handle brush to gently wipe away excess water during and after using any porous clay pots (Yixing, Jianshui) to help ensure it develops an even finish.
