Handmade Black Moonface Gaiwan

Handmade Black Moonface Gaiwan
Handcrafted by ceramic artist Du in Jingdezhen, China, this gaiwan features a deep black glaze with a textured surface reminiscent of the moon. Sporadic carbon trapping and peacock-eye patterns emerge across the glaze, creating a dark, stormy appearance that makes each piece unique. While the gaiwans are similar in size and form, subtle variations in glaze color, texture, and carbon-trapping patterns naturally occur during the firing process.
Its compact size feels comfortable and secure in the hands, while the well-balanced form allows for a smooth and controlled pour. We especially love this gaiwan for its rustic character, dramatic glaze, and excellent pouring performance.

It’s food safe, of course. And also dishwasher safe. However, I strongly recommend that you wash and dry it by hand, and use it gently. Please do not use on an open flame, gas or electric stove-top. And try to avoid alternating hot and cold, which could cause cracking.
