Jianshui Purple Clay Hand-Painted Aroma Cup
Handcrafted by Pupu Studio in Jianshui, Yunnan, this aroma cup features a traditional Chinese floral painting and a tall, slender shape designed to capture and concentrate the fragrance of tea.
Made from 100% Jianshui purple clay, or zitao, the cup is formed from naturally occurring black clay with a soft matte finish. Although it is commonly known as “purple clay,” Jianshui zitao naturally occurs in five colors: purple, red, white, yellow, and green.
Because the cup is unglazed, the clay may gradually absorb the aroma and character of the tea used in it over time. For this reason, we recommend dedicating it to one general type of tea, such as ripe pu-erh, raw pu-erh, oolong, or black tea.
Its slim profile makes it especially well suited for appreciating the lingering aroma of tea during gongfu tea sessions.

Additional Information:
It’s food safe, of course. I strongly recommend that you wash it only with water, and use it gently. Please do not use soap to wash or rinse your pot because it might also absorb the scent from the soap. You can also use this bamboo handle brush to gently wipe away excess water during and after using any porous clay pots (Yixing, Jianshui) to help ensure it develops an even finish.
